Partnerships, Services & The After School Hours
The time period between 3:00 and 6:00 PM is a critical time for children and youth.Evidence shows that during these hours many children are unsupervised and left to their own devices, resulting in greatly increased levels of crime, accidents and injuries and antisocial behaviour. It is also clear that during these hours children are inactive participating in increased screen time and poor eating.
we know that that good quality recreation-based after school programs
can have an impact on many of these concerns, and help to promote
physical activity, healthy eating and provide opportunities for social
engagement. After School Programs can also have a positive impact on personal and mental health and success in school.
