| KidSport Elite Performance Grant KidSport provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport. The KidSport Elite Performance Grant was created to provide financial assistance to athletes in Alberta who have been recognized at a provincial team level. The activities must be affiliated with a provincial sport organization. The grant is for children and youth 18 years and under. In order to accommodate varying Provincial Sport Association competition/training schedules the EPG will be made available based on the following timelines: January - March - $3500 (seven grants available) April - June - $3500 (seven grants available) July - September - $4000 (eight grants available) October - December - $4000 (eight grants available) |

| Nutrition Innovation Awards Interested in winning up to $1000 for your school? Up to five awards will be given to schools for initiatives to improve at their school. These awards recognize the efforts of five extraordinary schools
who implemented innovative strategies and programs to improve their
nutrition environment. These changes can include improvements to your
cafeteria, canteen, tuckshop, vending machines, special event menus and
items used in fundraising. |

| Safe Healthy Active People Everywhere (SHAPE) Everyday, throughout Alberta, students are being driven to school when they could be using an active form of transportation.Communities and schools see increased traffic congestion and potential safety concerns. Parents are concerned for their child's health and safety. SHAPE promotes several events throughout the year to help schools bring awareness to and promote active transportation. | Power 4 Bones Power4Bones (P4B) is an innovative, free 7 week web-based bone-health program that encourages Grade 5 students in Alberta to take care of their bones. The program responds to research in Alberta that shows that a significant number of Alberta teens have suboptimal eating and activity behaviors that may impact the development of strong bones. Power4Bones consists of a variety of educational activities and is cross-curricular. It helps teachers meet Alberta curriculum expectations in many subject areas, including language arts, health and wellness, physical education, math and fine arts. The core P4B activities are based on multiple learning styles and on educational and health promotion theories. Feedback from teachers and students on the program has been outstanding. teachers appreciate the program's flexibility as it fits perfectly with the grade 5 curriculum. Students love the program and are excited that it builds student leadership and school spirit by it's peer-lead approach. Registration for the P4B program is free! Follow the link on the right. |
