Rebecca’s Story:
How does your lived experience shape your connection to Ever Active’s cause?
From a very young age, I was interested and curious about health. What we eat, how we live, move, and its impact on our lives. In adult life, I’ve always had a strong appreciation for the environments we live our day-to-day lives in; the school being one of them. As someone who struggled academically through my childhood, I saw firsthand how the school environment shaped my ability to learn and keep up with fellow students. Healthy school environments are places where children, regardless of circumstance, can thrive. And so I believe every child deserves a healthy space to learn and be curious in.
What is a project or moment you’re especially proud of since joining the board?
The transition of Kerri moving into the Executive Director role. At the staff retreat, I saw the team rally in excitement and support for Kerri, and this is such a testament to the staff and their hearts for both the mission and each other. I have always admired the staff at Ever Active for how each of them will individually contribute to the culture, and I really felt like that transition saw that contribution on full display.
