Our Projects

We’ve been hard at work across the province since 2008. Explore some of our Key Focus Areas below to see some other existing and completed projects that show where we’ve come from.

Empowering Indigenous youth through culturally grounded programs like the Indigenous Youth Mentorship Program, Culture as a Source of Wellness, Sport as a Platform for Wellness, and Miyomahchihowin: In Good Health that foster connection, leadership, and well-being.

Supporting the health and wellness of educators through initiatives like Teachers of Tomorrow, a national project equipping pre-service teachers to champion well-being in their future classrooms, alongside ongoing efforts that foster connection, balance, and professional growth of in-service teachers.

Advancing belonging and access through initiatives like Resettlement through Recreation, Recreation Leadership, Canadian Outdoor Experience, and Equitable Access to Physical Activity, creating inclusive pathways for all to participate, lead, and thrive through movement and play.

Strengthening opportunities for every child and youth to be active for life through initiatives like AB Active After School, Learn to Skate, School Sport for All, Coordinating Systems around Physical Literacy, Hosting Healthy School Sporting Events, and Physical Literacy Mentorship that build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement.

Creating spaces that support well-being and belonging through initiatives like 21st Century Spaces for 21st Century Learners, exploring how thoughtful design and built environments foster healthier, more connected school communities.

Strengthening connections between schools and communities through initiatives like Recreation Centre Passes in School Libraries and Ever Active Communities, expanding access to recreation and fostering active, connected, and resilient communities for all.

In addition to the focus areas listed above our team supports a variety of interdisciplinary projects related to: Student Leadership, Outdoor Learning, Social & Emotional Well-being, Positive Mental Health, Health & Physical Education and Substance Use & Harms Reduction.
